Our Regular Discharge Time Is 11:00 a.m.

This allows us to clean your room and have it ready for another patient being admitted from surgery or the Emergency Department by early afternoon.

Your doctor will decide when you are well enough to leave the hospital. But, our Clinical Resource Managers or Social workers will already be working with you and your doctor on the plan that will best fit your needs. If you are not sure how you will get home, let your nurse know. Your nurse will make arrangements for you.

When you leave, be sure to check your room to make sure you have all your personal items. If you have valuables in the hospital vault, make sure you ask your nurse to get them for you.

New Medicines When You Leave

If you need new medicine(s) when you leave the hospital, your doctor will give you a prescription. For your convenience, the Outpatient Pharmacy is located in a medical office building next to the hospital at 999 North Curtis Road. You can fill your discharge prescription between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (Monday–Friday) and between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (Saturday).

Upon request from your regular pharmacy, we can transfer your discharge prescription when you need a refill. The pharmacy can bill your insurance if you provide your insurance plan card. Any copayments or other charges can be paid by cash, check, or credit card.

Discharge Instructions

If you are going home after discharge, your nurse will talk with you about your medications, diet, activity level, and any warning signs that should indicate to you to call your doctor. If you have a surgical dressing or cast, your nurse will tell you how to care for these. Your nurse will also give you written instructions to take home with you to refresh your memory.

If you don’t understand or want more information, please ask. Everyone is different, and you can help us deliver the service you expect by telling us what you need and want.
